Postales virtuales
Checklist
The following is a checklist for managing a postcard party safely in time of the Covid-19 virus.
Identify the objectives of your Postcarding - to support a candidate, a cause, or the get out the vote, etc. The example here will be Postcarding for a candidate.
Talk with the candidate and staff to ask if they will provide the postcards, script (what they want written on the postcards), mailing addresses and stamps. Also discuss what their timeframe might be. Encourage them to support Postcarding early in election season; they can mail the postcards months later, if needed.
Work to procure all these items using the mail or a “drop-off” of materials at a safe place/designated location (e.g., carport, box on deck of home). If the candidate provides a script, be prepared to review, and shorten it - postcards should include vital information written in a clear and readable format.
Prepare packets for writers to pick up in safe place/designated location. Provide about 20 postcards, addresses, a script, possibly the stamps, and instructions in each packet. The instructions might include how to handle stamps and when completed cards need to be safely dropped off at designated location or when completed postcards might be mailed to voters. Email can also be used to distribute this information. Have sign-in sheets for writers to use when picking up packets.
Advertise the Postcarding event using Facebook posts, emails, phone calling, etc.
To Encourage Writers
Have writers take pictures of their postcards and post them on Facebook, Twitter, and other Social Media to celebrate their efforts.
Celebrate at an online event with members and Postcard writers. Include a contest and raffle off a gift box, etc. to a person who writes postcards.
