Take Action

No matter what party is in charge, they rarely draw the lines fairly. The fight for a new system to create fair districts will not be quick or easy. The only way to change the system is through intense public pressure.

Join the Action Team

The clock is ticking down to the November 3, 2021, special session on redistricting, and we need to mobilize citizens to contact legislators to encourage fairly drawn maps that meet the non-partisan benchmarks prepared by FDGA and the Princeton Gerrymandering Project.

JOIN THE ACTION TEAM to receive alerts about redistricting activities before and during the upcoming special session and requests to contact legislators on time-sensitive issues.

Request a Fair Districts GA speaker for your next event

If you are planning a community meeting or lead a group that’s interested in redistricting policy, request a speaker from Fair Districts GA. We can provide a half-hour or one-hour educational presentation, facilitate a small-group discussion, or take part in a panel.

  • Please give at least two weeks’ notice. This gives us time to coordinate logistics with our volunteer speakers and plan any PR needed.

  • Identify at least one specific time, date, and location that works for your group. We cannot assign a speaker without these specifics.

  • Let us know what you would like us to talk about. Our Speaker’s Bureau volunteers will help pair your interest with the best presentation, and topics include:

    • FDGA & Princeton Gerrymandering Project Benchmarks

    • Redistricting 101

    • Transparency in Redistricting

    • History of Redistricting in Georgia

    • And more!

Write a Letter to the Editor

Letters to the editor (LTE) are powerful tools to raise awareness, influence public opinion, and put pressure on representatives. Writing letters to the editor is easier than you think and sending letters to the editor are important because they:

  •  Reach a large audience

  •  Are monitored by elected officials who search their names the news

  •  Can bring up information not addressed in a news article

  •  Create an impression of widespread support for or oppositions to an issue

FDGA needs your help getting the word out in newspapers across Georgia! Join the committee or check out our toolkit.
