Politicians are picking their Voters versus Voters picking their Politicians.

What will you do to provide more transparency, better standards, and improve this flawed process in Georgia? I am emailing to urge you to condemn packing and cracking of our fellow Georgians. We need to hear your voice and see your actions; we want you to be a leader for reforming Georgia’s Redistricting process.

My name is [Your Name] and I am emailing you because Georgia’s redistricting process is taking votes away from voters. Our current lack of transparency and standards set up a redistricting system that voters do not understand and cannot observe. Voters are the losers in this process and politicians are the winners.

You can make a difference in many ways to improve this system by standing up for change.

  • First, you can step forward and stop the yearly redistricting by legislators to build districts by moving lines to gain voters so they can stay in office.

  • Second, you can hold hearings in each district with meaningful input sought and followed during redistricting.

  • Third, you can make all redistricting meetings public to avoid legislators or other political leaders from having private meetings for any purpose.

  • Fourth, you can change the weak current standards for redistricting to restrict legislators from personal political gain based on moving district lines. Georgia legislators need to take a hard look at the redistricting process. There are many ways redistricting can be improved.

My question is, what will you to improve Georgia’s districting process to assure voters their votes make a real impact in our elections versus a process that creates wasted votes?
